Some geekery with my Android phone

It was a long day indeed. With the help of one of my friend, I have been trying to root my android phone so I can install some custom ROMs in it. My device was update to Android Froyo 2.2 which used to lag sometims. I’ve been waiting for a firmware update from Samsung but it was nowhere to be seen. Samsung has already rolled out build 2.2.1 in few countries and providers. However, I was still stuck with the 2.2 build.

So I decided to finally root my device. The rooting process was quick and it was easy. However, it took me more than 3-4 hrs of time installing a custom ROM to get the 2.2.1 update. The phone was stuck at the boot logo for hours and for a moment, I was scared thinking that I have bricked my device. But then, it was my friend who instilled confidence in me and was by my side for the entire process. I had lost all the data in this process but I had already made back ups of everything so that wasn’t really an issue.

Now the phone is running the latest OS and I don’t have to wait for Samsung to roll out any new firmware update.

Thank you so much Wade for being so supportive and helping me with this entire process of installing a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S I9000.:)
